My experience with videography has come in fits and starts – often with intense periods of work after long absences. My work at RSM was a very productive time, with dozens of videos created in a relatively short period of time. Using better equipment there definitely improved my work, but the volume and standards required quickly developed my corporate interview quality. Many of the pieces here are from my time working for the team at HarperCollins UK, interviewing their authors and creating content alongside the publications. From these jobs I was able to improve the equipment I owned, get truer sound, brighter lights and ultimately create nicer work.
The cuts in this reel are predominately to show the amount of interview shoots I’ve worked on. They vary for the clients, the equipment used, and whether it is a one man or crew shoot. But through these shoots I have developed techniques for dealing with the needs of each situation. And the majority of the lessons led to a focus on preparation: well planned pre-production, and an organised set.
Finding out the hard way in the early days and endeavouring not to make the same mistake again has developed me into someone confident in delivering on this style of professional looking interview videography.
